The Challenge

Zimbabwe's cadastral records were fragmented, paper-based, and inaccessible in real-time. Surveyors and administrators had no unified platform.

What I Built

A national digital cadastre — geodesy module, spatial indexing, business rules engine for land approvals, parcel validation, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.

State land applications moved through manual, paper-heavy approval chains. No spatial verification. No transparency.

A GIS-based land allocation and registration system. Digitized the full workflow from ministerial approval to field officer verification, including GIS field data collection modules and automated approval chains.

Artisanal small-scale mining operations across Southern Africa were unmapped, making environmental and health impact assessment impossible.

What I Built

Spatial mapping and data collection across 8 SADC countries, documenting artisanal mining locations, environmental conditions, and community health data.

The Challenge

Counting aircraft across airports and airfields from satellite imagery was a manual exercise — slow, error-prone, and impractical for monitoring at scale or over time.

What I Built

An automated pipeline that fetches high-resolution satellite imagery through the Google API for defined coordinates, runs an object detection model tuned to distinguish aircraft from buildings and ground vehicles, draws bounding boxes, and aggregates counts per tile and per region. Detections are georeferenced and plotted on a GIS platform for spatial validation.

The Challenge

Route planning and flight trajectory analysis typically happen in either flat 2D GIS or in closed flight-simulator environments disconnected from real-world geospatial data.

What I Built

An interactive 3D flight simulator integrated directly into a GIS environment. Custom aircraft models designed in Blender are dropped into a georeferenced 3D scene. Users insert waypoint-based flight paths, play back movement with pause/resume controls, and measure distance, altitude, and live coordinates along the trajectory.

The Challenge

During peak pandemic response, national health teams needed a unified spatial view of cases, testing centres, isolation facilities, and hospital capacity — data that lived in disconnected spreadsheets and siloed systems.

What I Built

A real-time spatially enabled COVID-19 dashboard built with Django, GeoServer, and OpenLayers. Integrated epidemiological data, testing centres, isolation facilities, hospital capacity, and district-level case statistics into one interactive geospatial platform with live case mapping, hotspot detection, temporal trend visualization, and facility capacity monitoring.

The Challenge

Watershed managers lacked quantified evidence linking upstream land use change — agricultural expansion, deforestation, settlement growth — to downstream river turbidity and sediment load.

What I Built

A spatial-temporal study combining multi-temporal satellite imagery, supervised LULC classification, change detection, watershed and buffer delineation, and spatial regression. Correlated land transformation patterns with in-situ turbidity measurements across selected catchments.
